The design is based on using cross-fed coaxial radiators. Absence of reactive components minimizes the losses normally encountered with omni directional antennas using reactive components to achieve in-phase radiation from multiple radiators arranged collinearly. Use of multiple collinear radiators with alternate non-radiating reactive sections to achieve higher gain after a limited collinear sections gives rise to phase differences resulting into lower gains.

To control the problem of phase difference, coaxial cross-fed radiators are used, which results into higher gains.

Shifting the feed point higher ensures the power distribution equally in both the lower and upper radiators.

The gain of the antenna improves with the increase in numbers of coaxial radiators due to the fact that use of higher number of radiators does not result into any phase difference in the radiation emitted by multiple radiators.

The problem of narrow bandwidth is solved by terminating the top section into a radiant load which results into broader bandwidth.
